Rick de Vos is a consultant in architectural acoustics from the Netherlands, based in China. He advises on the design, construction, and furnishing of buildings with the aim of protecting people from unwanted sound. Rick has a degree in audiology, which allows for in-depth elaboration on design strategies; fully considering the technical aspects, as well as the practical implications, and moreover the subjective effects on people; all to the benefit of the decision-making process.

In 2012, Rick started his professional career with Royal HaskoningDHV. He has worked on challenging multi-disciplinary projects; Potatohead Studios Bali, PEX Toulouse, Ecole Centrale Paris, Beijing Tencent HQ, Education City Doha (with O.M.A), TivoliVredenburg Performing arts centre, Singer Laren, Hvidovre Hospital extension (Schmidt Hammer Lassen), and more. From 2013 to 2016, Rick was a part-time project researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). In a project on human echolocation he investigated the acoustic properties of tongue clicks, and how specific echolocation tasks are affected by auditory cues. The results of the project are published in two peer-reviewed papers in the journal Acta Acustica.

In April 2019, Rick relocated to Beijing China, and started an employment with Tsinghua Tongheng Urban Planning and Design Institute (THUPDI) in the Architectural Acoustics and Interior Design department. In addition, collaborating with the University of Crete, a peer-reviewed paper pas published in MDPI Acoustics, about acoustic measurements using leather gloves to improve source characteristics of the signal.
